Cool. I ordered today too. I also got the Midnight Blue, though I struggled with whether it was a good idea. I've never seen it in person. I hope it's not too light.

I got an est ship date of 5/28. You?

Ya, same. Love to see it come out sooner. I would have rather the red, but they didn't offer the LED screen in red. Never seen an LED in person, I hope it lives up to all the hype.

OK, it's a race then. We'll see whose ships first.

Yeah, I actually wanted the Red as well, but it wasn't offerred via the sale special that I went through. When I went in through the normal way and configured a Red, I couldn't get it within $200 of the Midnight Blue. Guess I could have gotten the pink...or not.

I was curious about the LED screens too, but I decided I wanted the 1680x1050 resolution so my decision was made for me. Of course now I'm just afraid I'll get one of the lousy Samsungs. I'm trying not to think about that.

If you ordered the LED screen, be prepared to see the estimated shipping date change once or twice.

Good choice on the colour. I have the Blue and it is nice. A friend saw it and she ordered the same colour on theM1330.

Mine shipped from TN, and I got it real quick here in Omaha, Nebraska. :)

I ordered mine with the WUXGA hi-def screen, 320gb drive, 9-cell battery (etc.. in my signature) 4-22-08, and it shipped 5-2-2008. It was scheduled to ship on 5-21-2008 (thankfully that wasn't the case!)

BTW, to anyone not considering the 9-cell battery, do it. Even if the power/battery life isn't a HUGE improvement, the fact that it lifts the back of the laptop up is almost required due to where the cooling vents are located. I read in another topic on this site someone had left their laptop sitting on their bed (soft comforter, etc..) for about 30 min and it overheated, causing the hard drive to fail. I use mine on my lap in my theater seating in my basement, with a small blanket... the vents are not covered becuase the laptop is lifted up a bit. If I couldn't use it there, I would've returned it. I do not use a notebook at a desk/table.

I would be very carefull with using your M1530 on a blanket. Yes the 9 cells battery will lift the back where the ait intake for the CPU and GPU are located and that's good. However this will bring little, if any, improvements to the harddrive and wireless cards air intakes located at the front.

If you want the higher resolution, go for it. Colorwise, it is practically identical. The only thing thats good about the LED is the brightness. Lets say the SXGA+ has a level 7 brightness at max, the LED can go up to 8. It's not that big of a difference, but it does save some battery life. Though it wont make much of a difference if you will be gaming and watching movies on it a lot. If you compare LED on Macbook to M1530, you will notice that the Macbook has much better color reproduction.

Can you confirm that about LED brightness? I am thinking if I should get LED. If the brightness isn't that much different, I would not make any moves for LED screen. I love bright screen, so please understand me. :D

My M1530 has a bright screen, but I wish I could be brighter.

I use my m1330 LED on 6/8 brightness most of the time anyway as it's so bright.

Comparing LED backlit M1530 to macbook pro, the M1530 is brighter, though colors are much more true with macbook pro.

Comparing LED backlit M1530 to non-LED backlit SXGA+ (1680x1050), the colors are basically identical. Literally. Both at max brightness, stagewise (Pressing FN and pressing up and down on the brightness meter) the LED is one stage brighter than the SXGA+.

So if you value the slight battery life increase and brightness one step higher, get the LED, but personally, I'd rather get the higher resolution to get more screen estate.

There have been many people talking of getting 4 hours plus on their WUXGA screens (1920x1200) on their M1530s, so I doubt having the LEDs would make any significant difference. On M1330 on the other hand, the LED actually makes a significant difference to size and weight of the system.

Ordered mine yesterday, similar price and config.

Personally I wanna get roughly 3 years(maybe more) out of this thing and as an after thought on the screen I figured that with the drop down in res on the LED backlit screen it would be less taxing on the 8600M in the future. Not to mention those higher res screens seem like just a tad too small of text for a 15.4" screen though I'm sure a billion people who have it will chime in and tell me its the greatest and they'd never go back, ect ect, bla bla bla, drop the res, yada yada yada.

Oh and my ship date is 5/27. That comment about if you got the LED screen expect 2 ship date changes really crapped on my day lol.

Okay I see your point, so the different is mimimal if I may. I normally use 6/8 level on my laptop for everyday useage. I don't really care about high resolution screen that much, and I am very happy with m resolution. Anyway thanks for your answer. If I am going to get LED, it is because of brightness.

Your WSXGA may be dimmer than mine according to Dell specification though. Your screen would rate 200 nits but mine would be 220 nits. Don't ask me what the nits means because I have no idea either. If you can explain it to me, I would be more than welcome to listen.

    Thanks

Yeah, I also struggled with choosing between the 1680x1050 vs the 1440x900 for that very reason. My 22 inch desktop monitor is 1680x1050, and I'm having a hard time imagining what it'll look like shrunk down to 15.4 inches. That's what I chose though. I guess I'll find out. :p
