Hey. I have an xps m1330 with the A04 motherboard and the A07 bios. The whine coming off my laptop was very slight so I kept it. But at times it could get fairly annoying. But this seems to have fixed my whine.

I have the RM Clock on, like most people with the whine, with the setting enable popup and popdown ticked off.

I have also found out that if I change the setting for the fingerprint reader to not power down and put it on the scrolling mode the southbridge whine is greatly reduced. From what I can see, this only reduces my battery by about 3-5 minutes. Just thought it may work for others as well.

Find "Device Manager" from Start Search and then click on the "Biometric" device. Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck the "Allow the computer to...".

Then on the bottom right hand side (system tray) right click the "Fingerpring Reader Suite" and check "Sensor Scrolling Feature." Don't know if it will work with everyone. I don't have an exact understanding of the mechanics, but it seems to work for me.
