    Hi all,

Just a quick question. I spec'd my XPS with 3Gb from Dell, as I knew about Vista 32's limitations and was penny pinching at the time.

    Now, looking at Vista 64, I regret not getting 2 x 2Gb instead of 1Gb + 2Gb.

Now if I want to change the 1Gb stick for a 2, must I buy from Dell?

I apparently have two Samsung sticks, but they came from Dell.

Shall I look for the cheapest compatible 2Gb stick, or play it safe with a Dell stick (for £40)

    Any advise appreciated!

Get 2 2GB sticks off newegg..

    DDR2 PC5400 667FSB will work, get a 4 4 4 12 timing if you can, its faster

No need to stick by Dell to get parts. Check out newegg, their prices are half or less compared to Dell. If you have trouble finding the correct RAM go to crucial.com and they will tell you exactly what you need.

And unless you want to switch to CL4 you only need buy 1X2GB as it will work with the 2GB you already have.

CL is Cas Latency. The RAM's specs should list. It is the number of clocks it must wait to execute. So lower is better. Wikki is a good place to get a detailed explanation.
