GD Dell and their long wearing parts, the AC adapter failed when I seen the dark gray power can on the taskbar. I had seen a simular adapter over at Rat Shack and I am glad now that I bought it. I just finished watching Titanic a co-incidence or did Dell adapter have a mind of it's own. I had the original apdapter from the gone bad 8500 I had to send back for the refurbished 8600 I have now, only Dell only sent the connector to the Notebook not anonther AC adapter. I lost that battle since they refused to send me another with the customer kit, even though it was listed on the packing slip as being shipped yet. it must have been Darbie O Gill and the little people the little people from 1959, starring Albert Sharp, Janet munro and Sir Sean Connnery went and grabbed the sent adapter while enroute to my apartment. LOL

How long does/did your original AC adapter last you?
