what is the best processor not named Intel Core 2 Extreme Mobile X9000 2.8GHz 6MB and is it overclockable in the 1720?

Also are any of the t9550, t9600, or t9800 compatible with the 1720?

The t9550, t9600, and t9800 won't be compatible because they all have a 1066mhz fsb.

the best compatible cpu's will be

    t8300 2.4ghz
    t9300 2.5ghz
    t9500 2.6ghz

    all have 800mhz fsb's like the 2.2ghz t7500.

None of them, even the X9000 Extreme, are overclockable in the 1720.

Dude and weirdo are correct. You have a 965 chipset, same one as my Studio 1535, which means you are limited to 667MHz and 800MHz FSB processors. Excluding the X9000 Core 2 Extreme, your best options, as Dude55 said, are the T8300, T9300, and T9500.

    I recently upgraded from the T5750 (2.0GHz/667MHz FSB/1MB L2 cache) to the T9500 (2.6GHz/800MHz FSB/6MB L2 cache), and it's been just fantastic so far.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to overclock any of these chips. However, that's a limitation of your motherboard/BIOS, not the actual processor. Heck, the Core 2 Extreme X9000 was made to be overclocked. :p
