Yup, it's another can I upgrade my laptop question.
I've done some searching but I couldn't find a thread specific to my laptop.

    I've got an e1505 w/ a T2500 CPU and i945PM chipset.

    Here are CPU-z screenshots:

I am looking to upgrade to Core 2 Duo E6700.

Thanks in advance for the help,

No, you can't, sorry. See, the Txxxx line of C2D is meant for laptops, whereas their desktop counterpart, the Exxxx line would cause major heat problems, besides being a different form factor. Either way, the CD T2500 2 GHz is still an amazing processor, and there's no reason you would need to upgrade it, unless you Need 64 bit compatibility (highly unlikely at the moment). Consider investing your money in some more ram, or a bigger hard drive.

Update your bios that might help speed things up alittle bit. Yours says A04 I have a E1505 with A12 bios and this thing rips.

You can only use a mobile cpu, as stated above the only thing you really stand to gain from an upgrade would be 64 bit support, which will remain pretty much useless for the avrage home user for several more years at least.

you can,but it will void your warranty, and as stated earlier, it wouldnt really be worth the cost unless you absolutely have to have 64 bit support. What apps are you running? In my opinion nothing over the t-7200 is worth the price premium right now, the 7200 is 2GHZ, with 4MB cache, and it can handle anything you throw at it just as well as its overpriced slightly higher clocked brothers. The cpu you have right now is a very good one, if you NEED 64 bit support, then you would need to upgrade, if you dont, I wouldnt. That money would be much better spent on other things, or apply it to your next notebook when the need arises.

Doesn't the extra 2M of L2 cache make a difference?

A little in certain applications, its far from a night and day difference.

    Thanks for the advice everyone...

Looks like I am sticking with my T2500, who need 64-bit anyways :p

p.s. I took your advice Robert in Sadorus I am now Rev12 Bios, and I notice a slight boost in performance... wish I would have done before/after benchmarks but it's too late now :)
