A couple months ago, I installed I8KGUI and had no problems with the program. Everything worked great and I had complete control of my fans and temps.

When I updated my bios a month or so back, I8KGUI started acting funny; I had no control over my fan speeds and my temps started to rise. (CPU from 40 to constantly around 53) I uninstalled the program and figured I would let the Dell bios take care of things, but for some reason, my fans would always stay on, and at somepoints, be on high for hours at a time. I know that with the bios controlling the fans, they almost never come on and that the laptop runs hot so I was really confused.

A couple weeks ago I reinstalled I8KGUI but it doesnt work. I have no control over the fans and my temps are still high. I tried playing around in the advance settings to switch which fans are in the bios index, but Ive had no luck what so ever. My fans are constantly going from high to low and even after playing around for hours I have no power over what they do; its really pissing me off.

What do you guys recommend I do? Can someone tell me what their #s are in the advance tab of their E1705 so that I can try those values for I8K? I need to figure out this annoying program or get my fans back to the way they should be withouth I8KGUI.

    Thanks.

BTW the I8K support offered no help.

    I suggest that you...
Start by completely uninstalling all traces of I8KfanGUI.
    Reboot.
    Reinstall the updated BIOS.
(Keep in mind that this new BIOS update may just have a lower fan initiation thermal threshold.)
    Reinstall I8KfanGUI.
Go into the options of the program and fill everything out.
You should have no problems. Diefer's site has a chart that states that the 1705 is compatible with the program.

no luck. got the new bios, wiped out i8k, then reinstalled.

the fans change for a second but go back to their own odd behavior. does anyone have a the values for their e1705 that i could try?

    any other suggestions?

edit: my cpu temp is 53 C all the time. isnt that too high? is there an offset im not aware of?
