I had read over several threads here on dell deliveries and how long they take(I gotta say some of your stories has me scared ****less). But I ordered yesterday and it orignally said it would arrive at my house on the 7th. Yesterday night I checked it and it was done with everything but boxing. Today around 10am I checked it and boxing was already done and I have ups tracking number.ETA to my house is supposed to be around Monday-Tuesday.

Dell usually overestimates the ship and arrival dates for their computers most of the time.

In malaysia, it takes 4 days also.

They forgotten to include my carbon fiber kit, and they sent it in 2 days time.

If you get a pretty basic one, it will usually be earlier than the estemate. But in cases like mine, where you have a very highly customized system, it will take all the time they say or longer. I got mine exactly when it was predicted, exxactly 2 weeks.

But in calvin_gsc's case, he got his in 4 days because all Dell's are built in malaysia, and not having to send it to the US or where ever and then send it from the distribution center saves alot of time.

Sheff159, I know i've spoken to you about the Audigy HD Audio, but regarding the 1210 as a whole, is it truly worth the $2000 I would be spending? I mean, I see other machines under a $1000 and being on a student budget, what do you think?

Well its really up to you. Right here I basically have a gaming notebook with a very portable, but still very very good 12.1" screen, and a low-mid level video card. I needed something portable, and something that can play games since I play them alot. The 1210 did that for me. I also love how the thing looks, the awesome battery life, the spactacular 280*+ rotating web cam. DVD burner, ExpressCard, etc. Its a loaded notebook with a ton of stuff. I love mine and I believe its worth every penny. But in the end its up to what you want.

How long do you get out of the battery? Is it the extended 9-cell?

And the screen is big enough for a typical spreadsheet or a word document? Horizontal I imagine it would be okay but do you get to see enough lines vertically?

The screen is planty big. I had a Dell ultrasharp 17" before this, and it did take a few days to get used to, but now I love it. Horizontaly yeah theres plenty of room, the widescreen is really great. Vertically yeah it could be a little bigger, but its big enough for spread sheets/word documents. Remember im in college now and I write alot and its ok for me. Plus the 1280x800 resolution give a good amount of space on screen.

As for the battery, yeah I have the 9-cell. Gaming with full performance, and screen 2 nothces down I can get 2.5-3 hours of gaming on the battery. Standard use like watching a movie/listening to music/word processing, I havent ran it down personally, but from reviews from others who have the 7400 it looks like 5-6 hours depending on screen brightness, volume, if your running the optical drive watching a movie and such. It has great battery life overall.

BTW sorry for taking this thread over, I never intended to.

Taking the thread over? If by that you mean moving from the subject of delivery speed to the subject of computer performance and our conversation, I don't think anyone minds. This is after all a forum, and people converse, hoping to get questions answered. :)
