try calling dell and see if you can get the video card upgraded. You might be able to do it.
Another option is to try and configure another E1505 (which is 6400) and use the home coupon. You might be able to get better specs for a low price. -
oh, thanks!! another question... should i wait for core duo 2?
-
How important is $$$ to you? If you get the core duo 2, it will (likely)cost you more.
If you accidentally ordered the wrong model, i suggest you set it straight. You would not want to forever regret it. -
If you wait, the prices will probably raise for core duo 2. Like rkj stated, you need to get the system that you want so you won't regret it for the rest of your life.
-
ah, thank you. i decided that i sould buy it now cuz the last few times i hesitated, i later kicked myself for not jumping on it. (a hp2000t with 1.83 Ghz core duo for 600$) last three questions. how long will this configuration last me(years)? and how is teh x1300? what games will it play?
-
Depending on what you do with your notebook, it should last at least 3-4 years. The X1300 will run AeroGlass on Vista fairly easily, and should be able to handle most modern games - just don't expect stellar graphics quality.
-
did you call Dell and ask them if they would upgrade the x1300 to the x1400?
-
This configuration isnt all that bad besides the gpu. It should last you around 3~ years without being too out of date. As for the x1300, its pretty old but its not that bad. It can handle quite a few games but probably you'll be running most recent games on low to average settings.
-
The X1300 is not old - it just came out at the beginning of this year.
-
Get teh WSXGA+ screen if you decide to cancel and redo your order
-
the problem is that you bought a big-ticket item without doing any research. it would be better for you to take your time, research your options in terms of what is available notebook-wise, and then after careful deliberation, where you're objectively reviewed your computing habits, you purchase a notebook that best fits your needs within your budget.
if you're unsure, i would at least attempt to get a refund and then take your time looking for what you need instead of buying on a whim.
if you will be forced to take a restocking fee, then at that point you'll have to weigh your options and see what it important to you.
good luck -
hey thanks guys! you are teh best! Another question(the last i promise), how will the x1300 perform on new games? i'm not looking for eye candy, just want my fps.
-
Okay guys, got my laptop today, and all I can say is WOW! i can play BF2 on high settings and F.E.A.R on mid settings. But doom 3 on every thing maxed out omg soo fun thanks guys i <3 you
EDIT: dell upgraded my screen fo free!!! -
did you end up getting the x1300 or 1400?
-
x1300 yep. man bf2 is looking good!
-
What screen did you get WXGA Truelife or WSXGA+ Truelife? And mind telling us how much you pay for it?
