I recently bought an Inspiron 1520 and opted for the external tv tuner. It works just fine for hooking up a cable connection, but I'd like to try using it to hook up game consoles to my laptop through the RCA connection on the tuner. Unfortunately, windows media center doesn't seem to deal with anything other than TV channels, and I'm a little lost in looking for other software. I dabbled briefly in VLC player but couldn't get it to work.

Is there a program out there that will simply display what's coming in on the RCA connection? My understanding is that the timeshift capabilities of most media players will cripple gaming with lag(granted, I haven't reached the point of finding anything to even try it with). I found a thread somewhere in these forums where someone suggested getting a program that would just display the feed as is(sans dvr), but no names were named and that was the end of the discussion.

I'm not planning to go out and buy a gamebridge or similar device, I just want to know if there's a free way to take advantage of the hardware I have.
