    Hi,

I am going to be a college student and this laptop seems to have it all. THe price seems pretty good, as I have a 30% coupon off the xps.

My only worry is that the 12.1 inch screen may be a bit small for long typing sessions, and checking email, playing games and such.

By the way, this will be my only computer in college.

What do you think of the size of the screen for you owners?

So my main question is, is it possible to hook up a moniter to this laptop and how??

Also, does the xps symbol on the outside of the notebook light up?

i find it a bit small if i've been using it for a long time (and by long, i mean 3+ hours)

i do have it hooked up on a 15" LCD, which makes it a lot more useful. u just simply plug it in, do the settings (extend it, make whichever one primary), and whoa lah!

it's nice to be surfing the net on the laptop's screen while watching movies on the other :)

what cable would I need to hook it up to an external moniter? So for the external moniter, I can have one thing going at once, and then do somethhing else on the laptop's screen?

Does the xps symbol light up?

You need a standard VGA monitor cord. One end goes into the monitor, and the other goes into the right side of the 1210. No the symbol does not light up.

Well the only real difference between the M1210 and the E1505 are screen size, processor level (2.16 is avalable to 1210, while 2.0 is max for 1505) battery life, camera, and looks. For me I kinda wish the screen was larger than 12.1'. I like the higher processor of the 1210. The battery life of the 1210 is better becuause of the smaller screen, I could use an integrated camera for college, and I love how the 1210 looks. With that I chose the 1210, im sure ill love the little bugger.

I really like the xps 1210. My only hesitation is the 12.1 screen size. man decisions. i don't care about the other stuff like battery and performance between the E1505 and 1210, only screen size

Then if thats all thats bugging you, and your 50-50 on it, go for looks, if your 50-50 on that, then rock-paper-scissors.

I just ordered a M1210 last week... just waiting for it to come to my front steps.... I gotta say, I was in the same boat as you... this HUGE and I mean HUGE investment is going to have to last me all through college...and I tried to go to classes without a lappy...and I gotta say...it sucks...all those note taking... and cramped fingers and what nots...when I saw the tilt camera feature...I said "bingo!"...imagine...sitting back... recording the lecture... and taking your class time somewhere else...(I learn better through listening than just reading...) Plus I was also worried about the 12.1 inch screen... but when my friend showed me his 700m, I knew I could live with the 12 inch screen. Now, mind you I wouldn't mind a bigger screen...but that's why I have my 20 inch monitor on the side from my previous desktop...so...pretty much... buy the m1210 if you are looking for portability and understand the sacrifices that comes with a 12 inch screen...but if you rather have a bigger screen and can't live with a 12...go the other route... for my money...(which I literally have paid for)....I say go with the M1210
