I just got my Vostro 1400 that I ordered on the 24th, and it does have the wobbly battery (which isn't that bad at all), and a dreaded Alps touchpad. I'm personally happy with it, but I did have some issues in the beginning with it. I altered some settings (i.e. the sensitivity) and after about a day of use, I hardly know the difference between the Alps in the 1400 and the Symantic or what ever in my B120. Were my troubles before most likely the fact that the touchpad had to be "coated" in body oil (if thats how you put it)?

I noticed that on my Vaio FZ190 also. (Uses an alps touchpad as well). It feels odd until you get some natural oils on it.

Okay...that makes me feel better. If Alps is good enough to put in a Vaio, it's good enough for me. I'd never heard of them before.
