Hey Ya'll. Just got my New Dell M1330, and it's pretty amazing so far but there's a problem, or two to be quite honest. First one is that the HDD makes these whinies noises when the laptop is just idleing or if I'm doing some light webbrowsing and it bugs the hell out of me! Does any of you guys have this problem, and if yes should I get Dell to fix it for me?

The Second the "problem" is that the HDD just loads and loads after logging on to Windows (Vista) for like 5 min, and yes I've disable quite a lot of useless **** but it's still working its ass of (the hdd that is :p). I dunno why, or is that just a Vista thing?

Thanks for your help (ARRG THAT WHINIE NOISE DRIVES ME INSANE :()

Edit: I'm pretty sure that it is the HDD, could be a fan though.

Call dell and tell them to get you a new hard drive!

Are you sure it's the hard drive?
Isn't it usually the processor that causes the whining noise?

No Im not 100% sure. It's either that, the CPU fan or something right under the touchpad. It gets pretty hot under the touchpad too. Could also be the DVD drive tbh. It's hard to locale :/

not all m1330s make the whine noise. i ordered two. one was quite pronounced. i'm exchanging that one thru customer care. don't bother with tech - they will just say it's 'normal'

as for the quiet one - it does whine but you would have to put your dog ear right next to it.
