I own a inspiron 1420 for close to an year by now...
My Windows Experience Index rating is 3.7 lowest being Aero Performance. 3D graphics rating is 4.6 (8400 GS). Memory/Processor 4.9 and data transfer rate 5.2 (7200 rpm drive). However, the minimize animation is not smooth and it's jittery...    I tried various things, reinstalled OS but nothing worked. Same happens when I use flip 3d. what is the problem? Is my nvidia driver not compatible with Vista?

Sounds like you don't have your graphics drivers right. Try reinstalling them from dells website.

My Aero performance on my 1420 is also low at 3.7 with gaming at 4.8 and never could figure out why when everyone elses aero numbers were as high or higher with the 8400m GS but aero does seem to work fine...any ideas as to why the Aero score is so low? (and yes I know that WEI isn't much of anything but I am curious)

I've the latest drivers... The one released on March 18th. I also installed Vista SP1... Still window animation while maximizing and minimizing is painfully slow... :(
