So I've taken the advice of others on the board here since Dell didn't include the XP CDs with my new laptop, and contacted them to try and get them.

    1. I emailed them and they sent me another Reinstallation CD.
    2. I called them and they said that they would send me the CDs, and they sent me another Reinstallation CD.
    3. I called and left a message for my "case manager" complaining about it, but haven't received a response after 2 business days.

My question....Where do I go from here? Now that I have a specific person to contact, should I just call her repeatedly until they cave in? I really can't believe that they're being this bad about things.

Yep, keep trying until you're happy. In your next voicemail, inform them you're contacting the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint.

I'm a little confused...What CD are you wanting and what are they sending you? The XP CD is the Reinstallation CD. It should be green (at least XP Pro is) with the Dell logo says:
    Operating System
    Reinstallation CD
MS Windows XP Home/Pro with SP 2

That is the only XP cd that Dell gives out, and it has no junk software on it. It will give you a clean install.

He wants the original XP disks, not the restore set. The business machines come with them, Inspirons don't.

I delt with them via mail and they sent me a box full of stuff including the following:

MC165 Windows Media center edition for DELL
    0G3714 Drivers and Utilities
    0n7174 applications

All I really wanted was a restore dvd like everyone else gives you based on something like ghost. But I will settle for this.

They just sent the stuff I didn't have to even ask, it seemed like the first line of defense. I never called once.

Yeah, they package those 3 cds together, so that's why you get the other two. At least they are quick. I got mine with in 2 days of chatting with them.

Brian is correct. I just left a second message for my Dell case manager today, and she hasn't called me back again. I think that I may try once more and threaten to contact the BBB.

I think what the difference is...with the restore cd you can only use that on Dell systems. Alot of manufacturers do this ( I know toshiba does this). If you put the restore cd in another computer like Sony, it would not work.

The XP disc that comes with the latitudes, you could use it on any system.
