So I was browsing the Dell Forums and a few people were talking about ordering the bluetooth card to install into their Dell E1405. It looks like it will connect to the laptop but there is no mounting bracket for it, so it just dangles around inside and dell doesn't seem to have a fix for it. Thats pretty disturbing as I was going to order one.

if the bluetooth card is still the same, then it sits in a small door inside the battery compartment... I've considered it. how much are people saying they pay for it?

Assuming your laptop can use the Dell TrueMobile 350 Bluetooth module, it's roughly $30 on ebay shipped .... no idea if your m140 need that extra $10 cable though.

quick way to check, find the bluetooth driver on dell's site for your laptop, if it's the 350 you are golden. Find the compartment for the bluetooth device, if you see the cable hanging out in there... you just need the module.

Both the E1405 and the M140 have the cable for the Truemobile 350.

I actually don't worry too much about the bluetooth card moving around in the compartment, b/c the space is actually pretty small. Also, the cable which it is connected to is pretty stiff, and holds the card in place.

I agree... my old 630m had the dongle for the bluetooth card and no mounting bracket, it was just fine without it when I used the bluetooth card.

The TrueMobile 350 is a card made by Dell for Dells. So any TrueMobile 350 will work in a Dell (assuming the system supports it and it isn't a defective product).

how is the 350? are there better bluetooth modules out there? this must be a rebranded broadcom or atheros chip right?

probably cheaper to buy the oem chip then the dell branded one...

Even if it is available, the 350 is guaranteed to work and on ebay, you're looking at 20-40 depending on "shipping" price

Problem is, its going to be ratling around unless you tape it down. Who wants to start taping stuff inside their laptop.

even if the cable isnt stiff enough, and the compartment is too big, just stuff it with cotton if you really dont want tape.
