is it easy to add a second drive to an Inspiron 1720? they price they are charging for a second drive, seems a bit high. What i mean is, do i need anymore parts? are they easy to get? or is it just a case of opening up the door underneath the laptop, and putting another drive in there? can i buy a sperate drive, and add it myself later?

    thanks

You need to get a drive caddy that will fit the second drive space, and some special screws.

you don't have to buy from Dell, in fact don't. you can get cheaper better quality drives from other online retailers.

i had no intention of buying the drive itself from Dell, merely the caddy and screws to fit it.

I've never heard of that site before.
It would be interesting to know the quality of the caddies they sell.
They say they manufacture their own.
It would be a lot easier to get the kit from them than to order the separate parts on Dell's site.
