I'm trying to find a way to add a bluetooth module to my Dell Inspiron 1501, I had an option to add it when I bought it but didn't want to spend the extra ~$50. Well things change, I want bluetooth. I don't really want to bother with a USB dongle unless I absolutely have to. Can I buy a module that goes in the laptop where the optional one would have went? Or replace my WIFI card with a WIFI/Bluetooth card that I saw on Ebay? I concerned about drivers though.
Thanks for any help,
Clayton

other dell laptops have an easy option to install bluetooth, 6000, 9300, and e1705 that I know of

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't see where there is a integrated bluetooth card as an option for the Inspiron 1501 on dell's site.

Your laptop takes the Dell BT 355. You can buy it for about $20 Dell.com. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=430-1795#reviews
Most systems should come with the connector, but I've heard of some not.. (for some reason). Open up your battery door and check to see if you got a striped cable comin out of it. -
DELL Wireless 355 Bluetooth module will work with your E1505 notebook. It is cheap but quite good. I got one for my M1210 separately, works great with my phone and BT headset. Here are the installation instructions.

I'm really sorry, I misread the model number . Well.... I'm not sure about the E1501. In the service manual there is no mention about a BT adapter, and the configuration page for a new system also doesn't have the option to add it. Furthermore, I can't find any reference to a BT adapter in an E1501. From the looks of things, it seems like the E1501 doesn't support an integrated BT module afterall.

Hmmm.. I also bought a Dell 1501 and it recommended the CW725 bluetooth adapter. It was "user installed" & shipped seperate. I guess I need to call Dell & get their advice (refund!
Thx for the helpful info. -
If it's built similar to the 6400, then pop out the battery and look at the side. If there's sometype of door there.. it is bluetooth-capable and you could add it. You could then just look for the drivers on Dell.com.

Hi
I am also in same problem as you. Were you able to find a solution to this? If so, please share it with me. The other option is of course the mini or nano bluetooth adaptor (USB) which I am presently using, which is actually not bad.
