    Hi,
I'm looking to buy a Dell 1420 (use one) but right now it doesn't have a webcam. Can I add one and it always come with it? What I need to do for that?
    Thanks
    Melanie

If you don't need it, don't get it.

Get the built-in webcam if you just want to do chatting. However, if you are using webcam to showing around... for example, in my case, showing my son to his grandparents, it's painful to hold the whole laptop. I ended up buying an external webcam even I have built-in webcam.

    Hi,
Melanie,It's not a Dell but why not buy one easily used if you need one and you don't have to spend more than $30.00 for a good one .
I have a notebook with an excellent webcam. It's really good and it takes snapshopts and also movies up to 150 minutes.

It's nice to have but I also prefer having an external one because you don't want tyo walk around with your laptop. But if it is just for you sitting there I also have a 2 week new notebook that came with a built in webcam and I have to say I'm amazed at how good it works. It shocked me.

You can get it for within $815 really good specs and that's with a 3 yr warranty. If you don't care about the warranty then you can get it for $600 and it's an incredible deal. What bothers me I don't think will bother you. Not for that price and what you get. It's super fast too. No hanging. I tested it and had over 50 windfows open ,no problem at all.

I am posting here for one thing on it that I can't live with it but I'll bet yoiu wont even be bothered by the one thing I am.

If you want that information for an Acer notebook and the builtin webcam just for you to sit there or if a child ,wife, friend ,family member will be sitting in front of it,it's so cheap and I would say it's worth the $815 Ive seen as the highest price yet with a 3 yr warrany.

For me I have one issue that bothers me with this notebook not related to the webcam which I just love. It's so cheap, not used . I don't know what you need it for though. If only to chat to someone ,I would say to get it.

You say you "need" it built in. I think you just need one but I'm not sure why it has to be built in?

You can send a message (I wont be subscribing to this thread so you would need to write me a message) if you want the information for the Acer notebook. I loved that about it but I still use other webcams with it.
