    Accidental protection question.

    Just got the 1705 with 4 year protection.

    What If I spilled coffee into it 3 years and 11 months from now. What will Dell do? will they give me a new computer or wipe the dust off an old 1705 ??

    just wanna now.

    i wouldn't be surpirsed if they had SOME parts for the E1705s that were still laying around. i'm sure they keep parts for several years after they retire the notebook.

    if they do not, they will probably provide you with a notebook that closely matches the specs of the original. and probably refurbished.

    someone else know more?

    If the machine is destroyed due to accident and no parts exist/it can't be fixed they offer something of "equivalent" value at that time, which would be the lowest of low budget computers given the age of the notebook at that point, or just the depreciated value of the notebook off of a new purchase I believe.

    My dad had one about like you are talking and did that very thing. Well it was wine. But he sent it in right at the end of the warranty and they replaced the parts and returned it to him. So I do not think you will get a new nice shiny off the showroom model. You may but they keep parts to fix them for a while.
