I finaly gathered enough money from graduation to buy a new laptop and decided to go with the E1705 because of the coupons here. I know pretty much exactly what I want but I still have a few questions I know you guys an answer.

First off, what happened to the 7200rmp hds? I just recently won a 160gig WD HD at a grad party that Ill use to store most of my data, but I wanted another 7200rpm drive on the laptop. Anyone know when they are coming back? Also, how much would the WD book drive be with 7200 and USB 2.0 over the standard 5400 hd?

I really like the WUGA screen and have heard great comments about it, but I think it might be too small and even with the 7900gs be too high a res for gaming. Is it really that much better then the standard XGA?

I was going to upgrade to 667 ram but would rather spend the money on a warranty and accident insurance, or something else worth while, but havent been able to get the coupons to work with an upgraded warranty. What am I doing wrong here?

I think that about sums it up for my questions. I plan on getting the 2300 and standard 1 gig for now then upgrade to Merom, 2 gigs, and Vista when the price is right. Ill hopefully purchase the laptop tomorrow or when ever Dell drops the prices again. Thanks for your help.

Parts come and go with Dell's part inventory - I bet if you wait a week or so Dell will have the 7200RPMs back in stock. The UXGA screen should be fine coupled with the GS - remember, you don't have to run the game at the screen's native res. to get good graphics. And about the RAM - stick to the 533MHz - 667MHz is overrated - the performace difference between the two should be very minimal at most.

If you're choosing to configure it from the last two out of the four customization options thats why. Dell only offers the 7200RPM upgrade the first two customization options, which are the most expensive as well.

Ive read of $35 coupons on ebay and stuff. Whats the deal with these? Anyone have a coupon that I could use?

    Thanks again.

Nice setup! If you're planning on upgrading your HD and RAM I would suggest purchasing them at NewEgg.com, they have great prices for the top of the line products. As for Ebay, I'm not quite sure about coupons, sorry.
