    I'm about to order the Vostro 1500 with the following specs.
    Would like to hear your opinion. It will be used mainly for surfing the internet, simple tasks, keeping and editing my personal pics and short videos. No gaming.

    looks good although seeing what you need it for, an integraded gpu will be enough...saving you more $

    If you're not going to game then there is no need for a 8400M GS, stick with the onboard; I've bought a 1400 with almost identical specs apart from the GPU to be used pretty much the same way you'll be using yours, it will cope very well considering the decent Cache & FSB, not sure about Vista though so we'll have to wait and see!

    One question... Is the gpu important while editing short videos?

    Not really. The onboard would be fine. Videos aren't necessarily graphic intensive.

    What about the display... heard here a lot of people complaining about probs with them. Where are my chances better, staying with the wxga with truelife or upgrade to either wxga+ with tuelife or wsxga with truelife.

    I sated with the WUXGA with truelife. Heard bad things about the + model.

    If you are rendering videos, then then cpu is what is important. And yours looks fine.
