I have a Dell Inspiron 1000 and was wondering about it's memory. I would like to upgrade and do not know how high I can go on memory or if it is a 1 slot or 2 slot in it. Can anyone help me?

I think it's got two slots in it and it can go up to 2 GB. But I would go to the dell site and look at the owners manual and check to be sure.

I have 1000 inspiron and it has 1 slot but it works with a 1GB memory module and the dell support guys said 512 was its max lol

so if you have only that 1 slot, you can add 1GB memory module to it :)

The newest inspirons say there's a 2gb per slot maximum.

My old Dell Latitude c640 had a limit of 512mb per slot. Then I read about someone trying two 1 gb memory sticks and it worked! I think the posted maximums are just the configurations that the systems is guaranteed to perform with. When you go above it, they can't state the system will be stable.
