This post is for those whose EPP (Employee Purchase Program) laptop included a copy of Lo-Jack for Laptops!

I was looking through the invoice for my XPS m1330, and found a $49.99 charge for the "free" Lo-Jack for Laptops application. Immediately I called Customer Service and requested a refund, only to have the operator tell me that the software was indeed free and that charge was not made. Obviously, he was wrong.

Steps to follow for a $49.99 refund for the Lo-Jack for Laptops app:

    1. Navigate here
    2. Follow instructions
    3. Request invoice by e-mail

A Dell CSR will immediately respond and notify you that he/she will personally handle your case from this point. Reply to the e-mail, saying you need the $49.99 refunded. They will send UPS to pick it up the NEXT DAY! It takes up to 30 days for the refund to be processed.

hmm, my EPP purchase did indeed come with the free lojack as it was intended. This is the first I've heard of anyone being charged for it. Perhaps your charge was a rare slip up.

Thats what I thought too. I had two separate Order Details: one for the laptop, one for the 'free' Lo-Jack (with $0.00 charge). The Lo-Jack is charged on the laptop invoice, check yours and you will find it.

My epp purchase was charged 49.99. I called a week ago and they just refunded the money no questions asked and told me to throw out the cd.

If LoJack is supposed to be free, then they should refund your money and let you keep an active LoJack account.

I made my purchase through EPP and they charged me the 49.99$ as well. Once I get back to school (and actually get my hands on the laptop), they'll be hearing from me.

But isn't the total on your invoice the same as the total you expected? My invoice says $49.99 for LoJack... but $0 for dozens of items: RAM, Vista, LCD, etc.

So I guess I should call Dell and say I owe them for all those $0 parts?

I mean, in an extreme case, if your total was supposed to be $1500... and your invoice says everything was free except LoJack... which says $1500... then what's the difference?

They're giving you the $50 to make you happy; the total at the end of the day is the same as when you ordered the system, yes?

In theory yes. It is as dell likes to throw around "included in price" I'm thinking the actual cost of the product just pobably showed up on their invoices.

Whatever the case, look at your invoice and you will see the charge. Get in touch with a Dell CSR and the money will be refunded! Easy as that!

Havoc... Why don't you copy and paste your invoice to help others as they are requesting? Just got to your "my orders" page at Dell.com, copy the order and paste here.

It would help others here immensely.

Edit: You should actuallt be copying and pating it to my How-To thread along with an explanation as to how you got it. That is the appropriate thread for it. Tx!!!

No they're not. You are actually paying for it. When they refund your money they disable the Lojack service. If they were giving you the 50 dollars just to make you happy, they would let you keep the service. Dell should not tell you its included and then charge you for it. For example...I didnt want nor need the Creative audigy upgrade, I was told that was included. It was, and unlike the lojack I was't charged for it, so I didnt have a problem keeping it.
Lojack is a completely different company from Dell. They are not offering their product for free. Someone has to pay them, and I doubt it will be Dell. If you really want the Lojack you can get it alot cheaper off ebay, then what dell is charging for it.

the 50 is more like the cost of 2 yr service for lojack - stupid service. i read somewhere that if you lost your laptop and lojack can't find it, they only cover up to the cost of software, which is technically 50.

i lucked out and returned mine but only after a couple try. some try to deny refund using the 'bundle' reason.

I just order my M1330 last night through EPP. So request the invoice once it shipped and if i get charge, I just call them and say I was told the Lo jack is free?

If you have the charge, just TELL them you don't want the lojack service, would like to return the software and have your credit card refunded the charge. I didn't even call, I did it through chat. The CSR didn't give me a problem at all, she authorized the refund immediately. I dint have to send back the lojack either...she said they deactivate on there end.
