I know the x1400 would be great for WOW but I am more into Battlefield 2 and FEAR
The res would be 1680 x 1050 with a 2.0 core duo and 1GB of ram and later upgraded to 2 GBs.
what do you guys think

the X1400 is a low end card its just the new generation of low end card, I've heard it runs fear at 3/5 quality settings. x1600 would be better.
-
On bf2 you will get lots of lag at moderate settings. You will have to set it a min. settings and might not get lag -
Does anyone have any experience using the x1400 with Mechwarrior?

It should run Mechwarrior just fine. It is an older game, so you shouldn't have too many problems.

I hate dell why can't they just hurry up and put a x1600 or x1800 or 6800 or 7800 in the e1505 it would make it the greatest laptop ever.
Also they have to do it before the $750 off $1999 finishes
Edit:
I have $1000 to spend and i was thinking of getting the e1505 with these options
ntel® Core™ Duo processor T2500 (2MB Cache/2GHz/667MHz FSB)
15.4 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife™
FREE 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz, 2 Dimm
256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory™
60GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
8X CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
Intel® PRO 3945 and Dell 350 Bluetooth Internal Wireless Cards
53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
1Yr Ltd Warranty, 1Yr Mail-In Service, and 1Yr HW Warranty Support
85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Additional Battery
Genuine Windows® XP Media Center 2005 Edition re-installation CD
Remote Control for Windows XP Media Center Edition
all for $2000 - $750 = $1250
tax and free shipping $1,354.91
I know that i would have to pay the extra $354.91 in paymenst but i think that the computer is worth it. If I don't go this route what are some other laptop with better gameing ablities for $1000 -

If Dell put that good of a video card in the E1505,....not many people would get the XPS series. You are paying a premium for the parts and "extras." I don't think you will see anything along those lines until the new XPS come out with Core Duo and upgraded cards.

Smart business on their part. I would love to see something like that. But I think heat could also be and issue. The 7800 was overheating in the 1705's. I would hate to see what it would do in a 1505.
-
It's just typical of any business. I mean if you have the option of earning more money, wouldn't you take it???
-
My 7800 Go doesn't overheat, and I've OCed it too. But reguarding Dell's GPUs - I think they're trying to make the XPS line more "exclusive" with their better GPUs/hardware when compared to other lines, such as the Inspirion line. -
Do you think Dell will ever put a x1600 in the e1505?
-
Not anytime soon, well def. not until the new XPS comes out. Then they might, but I doubt it.

I'm considering the Dell e1505 and the Acer 5672. The dell has 256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory
the Acer Aspire 5672 has the ATI® MOBILITY RADEON® X1400 graphics, 128MB DDR.
I had been only considering the Acer until the latest coupons from Dell. Can I actually compare these cards apples to apples (so to speak)? i.e. 256MB is better than 128MB and they're the same otherwise, or is the Hypermemory setup different in these two manufacturers? I have read that the Acer can share up to 512MB with the system memory.
Thanks for considering what may be a noob question. -

Everyone here seems to think that the x1400 is a terrible card...I think you have to look at it as a big step up from the x300. It scores around 2000 in 3dmark05, which places just below the power of the previous generation x700. It will perform 'fine' in current games, with most games at medium settings, and the really graphics hungry games at medium-low settings.
Both the Dell and the Acer have a 128mb dedicated x1400, any extra memory is "hypermemory" borrowed from system RAM. Both systems are great budget all-round notebooks, with great specs for a decent price, and enough graphics grunt for some gaming, though not ideal for hardcore gamers. -
Its correct that the Dell and Acer x1400 both have 128mb of dedicated RAM... the difference is how they list it...
Dell lists 256mb hypermemory when its actually 128 dedicated, 128 shared.
Acer lists 128mb x1400 with 512mb hypermemory... so it can grab up to 384mb or system memory for graphics use.
Ive read that the Acer x1400 performs less well than other implementations though... no reason why though.
Also, the x1400 can't effectively use more than 128mb of RAM anyway, so the extra memory wont effect performance that much... and is probably the most useful for apps that want more than 128mb of graphics memory available.
Im getting my e1505 on monday... and plan to do some 3dmark tests on it to see how it performs. I dont think this has been done yet, as the e1505 with x1400 has only been in production for a couple weeks. -
