I'm about to purchase an e1705 and am trying to decide if the ATI x1400 is worth the extra $179 over the Intel 950. In terms of graphics, I'll use the machine for MS Flight Sim 2004, and watching movies. With the WUXGA, is it worth the extra $$?

if its just movies and Flight Sim, i guess its NOT worth the 179$...but u never know, might be worth it at the start incase of new games, etc.

Screen resolution is a personal preference. You should check some out if you can. The requirements for Flight Sim 2004 aren't all that high.

Just get he X1400. The GMA wont be able to handle the eye candies of Vista among lots of other things. The X1400 can at least run most of the games out right now, if at med to low settings. The GMA wont even run. The best i can get out of it is Civ4.

The GMA 950 will run Vista just fine... It will be able to run the Areo glass interface of Vista. And the 950 GMA should be able to run almost any game. At low settings though... Something like Flight Sim 2004 should be a fairly easy task for the 950GMA. Unless you have the money, then just go with the 950GMA.

The GMA 950 is a joke. I don't know how Flight Sim will run on it, but it certainly won't be great. You should go with the x1400 so you'll be able to play future versions of the game.
