My question is very simple: where do I find Windows 2000 drivers for the ATI Radeon Mobility X300 onboard graphics card that comes with Dell Inspiron 9300?

ATI.com doesn't offer drivers for notebooks:
    https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27

DELL only has ATI Mobility Radeon X300 drivers for Windows XP, not for Win2K.

    driverguide.com doesn't have any X300 drivers.

I tried installing the XP driver on Win2K and got this fatal error:
    INF error
    Video driver not found

    Thanks,
    Dan

You don't need a "notebook" driver, just the regular Windows 2000 ATI driver will do.

    I have exactly same problem.

In working XP configuration, device manager shows radeon mobility x300 driver on standard PCI bridge.

What do you mean by standard ATI driver - where do i get it?

    Thanks
    Ken

are you sure 2k supports the ati mobility x300? it looks like the desktop version is supported, but i just did a quick google and saw nothing giving me the impression that it supports the mobility x300. yes, i'm aware that xp shares its kernal with 2k and a quick google doesn't mean it's not supported but the 9300 doesn't offer 2k as an os option, so i'm assuming you wiped xp and installed your own version of 2k. if so, you might be on your own unless there are hacked drivers somewhere.

Thanks BruZZi and dandy, the Omega drivers work great on my girlfriend's W2K i9300 (dual boot with XP).

At first didn't work, then I remembered to do Windows Update. Might have been the DirectX update that was needed.

    Hi,

I had the same problem with my Inspiron 9300 and Win2000 - and the driver from www.omegadrivers.net helped...

....BUT the extended desktop feature (external monitor extends the desktop area instead of displaying the same area as the internal monitor) of the ATI card obviously doesn't work with this driver :-(

Whatever I tried so far only generates a clone from the first display (notebook display) on the second one (external monitor).
In the "ATI Tray Tools" menu (right-click on the system tray icon) there is an item "Display" -> "Extended Desktop", but selecting this function just does nothing :-(

Does anyone know, how to get this extended desktop feature working?
With Windows XP and the normal ATI driver it works easily.

    Thanks, Chily
