    Hi,
I want to buy a Dell laptop and has two options:

AMD Turion 2 Ghz and 1.6 Ghz Intel Core

I heard that AMD has some problems with fast heating of processor. Is it true?
    Thanks.

the Core will have better cooling. the AMD is basically the econo option.
what are you using this laptop for?
perhaps you could fill out the FAQ, if you want more help outside heat issues.
BTW,those two CPUs, there for two different laptops. the e1505 is the better option in 9/10 cases.

Intel Core is faster, better, more reliable and hold a smaller temp. Therefore Intel > amd

My friend asked me to help her to buy a laptop for her daughter. The one she wants to buy is from Dell. I called the store where she wants to buy it and they have only Dells (she needs special keyboard with different letters on it).
Dell with AMD Turion costs almost 1000, and Intel - 1200. First, she decided to buy AMD but then someone told her that AMD has issues with overheating. That`s why i decided to ask for advice here.

The laptop will be primarily used for educational purposes, web-surfing, e-mail, DVD watching, etc...

    Thanks.

Basically buy Intel unless you literally have no choice. AMD on the laptop has been owned by Intel for years, and now with C2D the difference borders on the ridiculous.

For note, a properly working and properly designed laptop will never "overheat" to the point of crashing regardless of what CPU it has. Some may run hotter than others, but as long as it's within spec and stable, it's fine.

Oh, and in this case, the Intel CPU would be your best bet by far. They usually cost a bit more than AMD, but as long as it's within budget, the difference is worth it. :D
