My Adamo went through SSD and three motherboard replacing...

The option is system exchange, but they are looking into the XPS 15z.

I personally HATE the design of the XPS 15z. The whole point for me with laptops is the design and there is no way I will change it to that.

I don't like all XPS current series in fact.

Would this be reasonable to ask for Studio XPS 1645/1647 SPECIFICALLY with the leather accent? I had a SXPS16 before and I can accept the design...

Please let me know if this is a too much of stretch.. SXPS is older model anyways and so I don't see why the company will not like that... It is not like I am asking for the latest and the best anyways.

They'll only have Studio XPS 16xx as refurbs, and if you bought yours new, it is highly unlikely you'll get a refurb one unless you specifically ask. Maybe you could ask for a Vostro V131?

I had mine for a while so my replacement will be refurb.

I don't want vostro v131 cause of the design... Like I think the whole thing of back of the laptop popping out started out with the Adamo. And I was fine with the Adamo because overall it was a great design. But that spread to the Mini 1012, and to the inspirons and the current XPS line... I hate that design.. IT spread to vostros and latitudes as well...

But if I were to request for a SXPS 1645/47 with leather accent specifically, do I have a reasonable chance???

I mean given the Adamo line is dead, you could get an XPS replacement, but again I highly doubt it unless you specifically ask for it. New laptops they try to give you a new laptop, refurbished laptops...same deal they usually give you a refurbished replacement, although it is entirely up to Dell. Technically Dell does not have to give you what exactly you want, they get you the most comparable replacement. The V131 is the only thing I could think of that is thin and price range of your Adamo.

Thank you for the reply. I will surely try to ask for the SXPS 16 then... I will really try not to get the vostro as I think Adamo is although similar in format, more "high end" if u know what i mean.

Nothing wrong with Vostro line, at least they start offering matte screens now (good luck getting that with ThinkPad Edge from Lenovo and Probook from HP). Sure it isn't high end, but unfortunately people did not associate luxury and high quality with Dell so the Adamo and Adamo XPS quickly got axed. I suppose XPS line would be next closest but nothing currently is close to the 13" Adamo and everything in XPS is bulky and fat.

An alternative option you may wish to consider is get the best spec laptop you can as the replacement and then just ebay it and then buy the one you want

    1) This, great advice by robot1000

    2) Dell will give you a new computer if you fight for it. Most people on this forum get new replacements with a little help from the community.

    3) There is no comparable replacement for Adamo. XPS is too cheap. Alienware is too bulky. XPS Studio has been discontinued. Don't settle for a Studio XPS 16xx!

    4) Executive customer service usually don't want to AND can't even jump from consumer to business lines (ie from Inspiron/XPS/Adama/Alienware/Vostro to Latitude/Percision)

    5) Personally, your best course of action would to be to fight for value by going for a Alienware m17x or m18x and ebaying it. However, if you don't want to go through the hassles and just want a usable computer, get a XPS 15 (albeit it will be super bulky compared to Adamo)

    Thank you for the reply.

You dont think asking for an Alienware isnt too much of stretch?

I dont care about the mobility. The most important thing for me is design and then is the performance. I had alienware before and I like the design as much as I do for Adamo. I was just thinking that it could be a way to long of a stretch.... So could this work??

How would i "fight" for it?

The Vostro is on the lowest rung of the Dell Business ladder. It's going to be better than comparable consumer-grade machines of any stripe, if only because they include matte displays as standard.

Not the XPS 15z, but that system has problems of its own (overheating, etc).

thank you for your reply. I definitely wont settle for Vostro. I dont want matte screen in fact and also it is for small business, i believe Adamo (higher end consumer) will overall have better quality than vostro (lower end business).

Well as mentioned, my option was 15z, but the design is too ugly for me to accept it.

Entry level Vostro have better build quality than any current Dell consumer grade laptop. Yes I have used a good portion of the new Vostro, any business line will beat consumer grade for durablity and quality. Again, XPS is cheapo plastic IMO, whereas Adamo has a nice aluminium body, like my Latitude 13/Vostro V13

Oh and just for those wondering, I just had my part repaired..

I was really thinking and settling for sxps 16 would just be ridiculous as it is really really not like the adamo in terms of format..

Thanks for the help to yall..
