    AC Adapter locks up computer

    Inspiron 1150, AC Charger is locking up computer as soon as it is attached. It is charging the battery, but computer will not run until the AC Adapter is unplugged. I'm trying to reload windows but the battery will not last long enough to complete. I tried another AC Adapter and it does the same thing, stops the computers process immediately after being plugged in. Any help appreciated.
