    Basic question I bet:

Right now I have a one month old Vostro 1400 and a 2.5 year old Inspiron 6000.

Their adapters are currently plugged into an outlet but not into the laptops.

It isnt obvious looking at them now which is for which  as the ends are identical. Although I see one is 65 watts and smaller than the other one whose watts I dont see listed.

How can I tell them apart or does it matter?

Both the Vostro 1400 and the Inspiron 6000 can use either a 65Watt or a 90Watt power supply. The 90Watt should charge the laptop faster.
