Now i can't see my welcome screen, log on screen. Can't see any user names. Now all i see is a black screen with a small windows xp logo and it says one of my administrator carpet name, not my user name. The name where all my documents are. It ask me for a password and if i type my user name password it takes it. So i log in but as soon as i log in the system logs me off instantly! i can't even see the explorer bar, all i see is my wallpaper picture and logs me off automatic. Safe mode is the same thing. I know its a virus because i got one last night and i was trying to clean it, a program installed itself and it was asking me to buy it. And i had the same problem, not seeing the welcome screen but i was still able to log in and try to fix my computer, now i can't even get in to run anti virus or anything

Do a clean install. If you need to recover files your old installation, get a SATA/IDE/USB adapter and move said files to another machine.

I'm gonna sound stupid, but how do you do it? i'm not too worried about my files pictures or music, glad i made a backup of my music two days ago. What is the right way to do a fresh install?

Pop in your Windows CD, boot from CD, and follow the instructions... that's pretty much all there is to it. I guess you should make sure to format the drive when it gives you that option, though.

Hmm... that is a problem. Try asking someone for a Windows CD. You also might be able to download one from somewhere, burn it to a CD and then use it on your computer.

In the meantime, have you tried System Restore? I know everyone says it, but sometimes it can be dead useful!

Good luck with your problem, I'll drop in with any developments I find!

I got my computer 4 years ago and I they send it with no recovery cd, but now I remembered that I called few days later to order my cd recovery, I found it!!! Now my computer works but I have some drivers missing :(
