Everytime I exit the Media Center, I hear a very loud beep even with the speakers muted. It seems that the lound noise is coming from the inside as if the program is mad that I exited. It is so annoying and loud that it can be heard from the next room.

Has anyone experience anything like that and what would you suggest I check.

Also, everytime I insert a DVD, the media center is lauched. Is there a way to deactivate that. I tried to uncheck the box in the startup menu of the DVD launch to no avail. Can I change the default player to PowerDVD or any other.

    Thanks.

Well, it happens to me when I'm working on AS/400 but my laptop also shuts down completely without warning...I have re-installed it again and I haven't encountered this again so far ... but then again, I'm not so eager to use it again but I must (last time it happened I heard crackling inside).

Thanks drumfu, I google it and found something that eliminated the beep, although it is not related to registery.

The solution is go into device manager, select the "Show hidden devices" option, go to "non plug and play device" find that device named "Beep" and set it to disabled.

Also, I figured a way to change the default DVD player. Go to my computer>Dvd drive d:>properties by right click>change autoplay tab to desired dvd player.

cool. yeah, i saw that disable device fix, but opted for the reg fix instead of "disabling" a device.
