A question to all you M1530 gamers what are acceptable heat temps for the following. My lil bro will be gaming hardcore at times more then 5hrs at a time. (he's a MMO freak ha). What is the max temp Celcius the GPU CPU and HDD can handle as well?
CPU Idle Load
GPU Idle Load
HDD Idle Load
Games He will be playing
Crysis
Final Fantasy xi Online
WoW
Unreal Tournament 3
Half life 2 Orange box
Also any down clocking issues? or the notebook behaving wierd when not plugged in and gaming on the battery instead?
Sorry for the question guys but he really wants the m1530 any other things you guys could suggest to get with the m1530 bigger battery, bags etc?
Gunna surprise him and pick one up for him if it looks favorable. Tried talking him into other laptops, but he really wants the dell...

MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
The only game that the system will have trouble playing for hours on end will be Crysis, he should be fine with the rest since they aren't too demanding.

thanx for your input michael just need a bit more input on GPU CPU HDD settings, and if anyone IS playing crysis @ what settings no over clocks
-
I'm playing Crysis on Medium settings (no AA) @ 1680x1050 in DX10. Runs very well except for extreme action sequences then frames drop a bit. Heat-wise things are warm but not alarmingly so.
-
thanx for your input Signal2Noise by chance can you get me some temp readings? also any over heating issues?
-
Im intrigued to know how you seem to be getting crysis to run smoothly
Any advice on settings would be appreciated as it looks quite choppy on my setup
I have 1530 / Windows XP / Penryn 2.5 / 2gb ram / Video Driver 174.82
Thanks -
Any other gamers out there that want to add input? and answer the questions regarding CPU GPU HDD temp? i tried scouring the pages but got fractions of information mostly about over clocking which we both are not interested in.
-
Well, i dont have exact tempetures for the loads on mine, but after 3 hours of playing FEAR at MAX settings at 1680x1050 it got really warm maybe borderline hot but not excessively hot

Read my personal review on exactly what to expect when it shows up at YOUR door.

I'd get the 9 cell battery and a good backpack for sure.
Oh yes... the temps. The temps max out around 68C or so under heavy use. -

I've had my m1530 for about 4 months now. I can say that I love it. It games very well. I have played Team Fortress 2, other Source games, World of Warcraft, Rainbow Six Vegas, Crysis, Call of Duty 4, FEAR, and Oblivion. Of what I listed, Crysis is the only game that had to be run on Medium (in DX9). I expect that I will easily be able to use this thing for gaming for the next 3 years. But then again, I don't have to play on the highest graphics settings, I have a desktop machine for that.

I beat the full game of Crysis on High DX9, and it looked/played great

thanks guys for your viewful insights gonna go purchase this for my bro and go with jaks53 recommendation on the battery seeing that it lifts the system a bit to alleviate some heating with the system. Still would like some temp readings on heavy use via gaming CPU GPU HDD. I got one ranging at 68c thats pretty good, but what game and for how long? thanks a lot for your input guys!

I have the 6-cell battery, but I used a couple coins taped together to raise the back of my laptop off my desk by about 1/2 inch while gaming. This lowers my temperatures by about 7-8C.
While gaming in High Performance mode, the highest I have seen my GPU is 79C in Crysis. Typically it will not go higher than 76C. Idle temp for the GPU is 59-68C. As for the CPU, while gaming it is anywhere between 60-67C depending on the game. The CPU idles between 43-58C.
I think from what I've read, my temperatures tend to be higher than most other people's, but I don't think they're too high that they are shortening the lifespan of any components. -
thanx zip those stats seem favorable gpu looks a lil on the hot side, but looks manageable with a possible laptop cooler running external off a powered USB dock. those CPU stats dont look to alarming. Only reason these are important my bro sometimes doesnt know when to stop playing sometimes playing over 5+hrs (i blame bawls drinks, redbull, and hotpockets). Guess someone could be getting a new M1530! thanx all for your help and input!

For what it's worth, I've played Team Fortress 2 for about 4 and a half hours straight the other day and the temp was right around 72C the whole time. The temperature doesn't seem to increase with the amount of time spent playing. I'm considering some AS5 or other thermal paste on the GPU/CPU since my temps seem a bit higher than normal.

i get a 4330 3dmark 06 at stock. plays FEAR flawlessly on max, and plays WoW perfectly as well. However, i didnt get this machine for hardcore gaming, so I havent played much else yet.
I dont have exact temps, but the laptop gets pretty warm. As long as the back vent isnt blocked, its nothing to worry about. However, playing when its on my lap, and the vent is partly blocked, it gets pretty damn hot lol -
if your 3D marks are high is it necessary to re image the machine and change the gpu drivers?
A question to the M1530 GAMERS.
