I received my Vostro 1500 today. It was ordered on 8/10/2007 and it arrived today 8/17/2007. No complaints there for sure!

    Specs:

    • Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5470 (1.6GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
    • 15.4 in Wide Screen XGA+LCD Display w/TrueLife™
    • 512MB Shared Single Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 1 DIMM
    • Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
    • 80G 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    • Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic
    • Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Wi-Fi Mini Card

So I'm sure there's one question many of you want answered. And I'm happy to say I can put some of your fears to rest. The WXGA+ screen on this unit is absolutely brilliant. No graininess at all. I'm quite please.

So there you go. There's atleast SOME chance a newly purchased WXGA+ screen arrives without the grainyness.

Let me know if you have other questions. I'll be happy to answer them.

Darn good questions! I have 2gigs of memory on it's way here from Newegg. I'll be doing that upgrade sometime early nextweek. And I will be running Ubuntu as my primary OS.

Compiz Fusion rules my world! :D

so no graininess on the wxga+ screen? I'm really glad to hear that dell has fixed this problem (all the latest reviews are reporting the same thing).

lucky! i only wish i could get linux to run well and understand it at the same time. im thinking that i'll join the linux user's group when im at college. it should make things a lot easier for my programming classes and whatnot. either that or the entire thing will come crashing down in fiery oblivion, you know how linux is sometimes. i only hope that my 256 8600m GT is gonna be supported.

Could someone please tell me what grainyness means? My vostro 1500 should be arriving tomorrow (with the standard size screen) so I would like to know what to check for. Cheers!

When it arrives... check it out... see if you have any complaints. Dont let bad reviews makes you paranoid. All that matters at the end of the day is if you like it or not. Readying all these bad reviews before you get the computer will just make you go crazy.
