Does such a thing exist on an e1505? All I've heard are bad stories and i need some hope. My lappy has a samsung lcd and should arrive tomorrow; I'll be sure to post my impressions (of the lcd anyway).

How do you find out what LCD you have on your laptop?
-
Go to "my systems and peripherals" under support, enter your service tag. Then just click the service tag (should be a link; your comp should be listed). You should be able to decipher most of it...

i just got my e1705 with wxga screen. i like the resolution. (size web page items, text, and desktop icons and text) BUT the bottom of the screen has major leakage. i can not find an angle of looking at my screen where i cant view all of the screen. if its near 90 degrees the screen is mostly all washed out... light gray when it should be black.
when i tilt it back away from me... the top becomes dark and the bottom is still bright. this screen sucks so bad. i will call dell tomorrow and see what can be done. -
sorry if this is dumb, bout how do you know your service tag if you didn't get your laptop yet?
-
It was listed under order history. I think it'll only show up after everything's been assembled though.

Argh! i got a samsung too on my e1705=(

Well thats 6 wxga's for bad and 2 for good. Mine does not arrive to after the 24th. Funny, that I cannot get any current owners of the screen to give their opinion on it, can it suck that bad?
USAF02Dude votes he likes his screen! Thank you! I hope everyone gets the good ones as well.
Please let us know what Dell does for you. -
My inspiron finally arrived, and yes the lcd has some issues. Not as bad as everyone says, but it is noticeable. The main problem I am having however is the hard drive. It is incredibly loud and very annoying (hitachi 80 gb 7200rpm). For these reasons, I'm having dell send me another laptop. I'll update w/ more info soon.

The matte XGA+ ? Samsung or LG ?
If your happy with the screen you might just have Dell send you the drive..two screws. Who knows what you might get? -
no, it's the ultrasharp sxga, and its a samsung. Dell's gonna send me a replacement, and if it's better in every way, I'll keep it. Otherwise, i'll just send back the replacement and request a hard drive replacement. Shouldn't be too hard...
Btw, just to comment on the laptop, the build quality is actually pretty darn good. the laptop is kinda big but will easily fit into a backpack, and its not too heavy. It also looks pretty nice, and the speakers up front are a great idea. If anyone has any questions about it, i'd be glad to answer.
A good samsung lcd?
