Hi I've had my 1520 for a few months and now I'm less scared of taking it to school. All I need now is a bag though.
I was curious as to which bag would be the best for the 1520.
I was going to get a bag where the laptop lies on its spine, but then I realized that the hinge of the 1520 sticks out from the back. So when in the bag the laptop would have all its weight on the hinge. Is that bad? Most other laptops' spines are flat and 90 degrees so that the weight of the laptop is dispersed evenly on the actual base and the lid of the laptop. This rounded hinge, however, will be taking all the weight. Is that bad? I mean would it cause stress to the hinge axel connecting the screen? I just don't want my screen becoming wobbly or flimsy or too stressed by having all its weight on the spine hinge.

I would show pics but I do not know how to paste them into a post.
If you don't know what I mean look at a macbook. When its closed the spine is angular and all the weight will be completely even across its back, not on the 1520.

Ever thought of a laptop sleeve? Just put the sleeve on and put it in your backpack, keeps it from getting scratched

this is what im getting: http://www.overstock.com/Clothing/Swiss-Gear-Sphinx-Notebook-Computer-Backpack/2852567/product.html
right now i have the wenger (swiss gear) pegasus which is the bag for 17" laptops but i got rid of my 17" so i want something smaller.

the build quality of these bags is amazing and i have no doubt that they would last a minimum of 5 years. all of their bags have great padding and protection as well as tons of storage space. they run slightly higher than most backpacks, but make up for it in functionality and durability

Trust me.. That 1520 is a tank, WWIII can happen tomorrow and all the 1520's in the world will still be alive with the **** roaches (Assume a bunch of nukes go off).

I say this because today I was in Future Shop, Staples and a few local computer shops.. And all laptops brands and models other then Dell REALLY suck ass. Entirely plastic chassis.. One good drop, plastic cracks, game over.. Man it was disappointing, I went and picked up each laptop griped it in my hands the chassis creaked, twisted, and 'folded', as in you apply pressure and it sinks inwards. Shocking how bad Toshiba, HP, Apple, Acer, Sony and Compaq laptops are...

The 1520 has a nice steel/metal/alloy/magnesium base, it's rock solid. So no need to worry about 'durability'.

Just get a nice sleeve with a shoulder strap and carry it around with you or put it in you're backpack.

I can't suggest a case, but I can suggest a sleeve. If you have a 6-cell battery, you should definitely get the Shinza Zeroshock III 15.4 or 17" (The 1.5 I have right now is extremely tight). I've been using it for a while, it's quite a powerful case. Look at the test results in the site.

I have a Belkin sleeve and I love it. It's great for transporting when I need to.
