    Hi,
I'm not soo familiar with Dell laptops, so I have a few questions:

    * Is it possible to disable the touchpad if I use and external mouse with the laptop? Is it easy to do?

    * Is it easy switch screen resolution with profiles for external displays? My ibm x60s and x31 has Fn Keys that allow easy access to a list of cutomizeable options like projector, 20", laptop default etc.

    * Is it possible connect from HDMI to a DVI on an external display?

    Yes.

I’m not exactly sure about this, but I think you should be able to find a 3rd party app or use nVdia’s profiles to achieve something similar

    yes.

Actually just listened to the Windows Weekly Podcast today. In that podcast approx 46min in to the show they discuss something called Vista Mobility Center. That's a feature that I have been unaware of. Paul Thurrott has a blog post and some other dudes are working on extending the feature.

Well - anyways it seems that Windows Vista is offering a uniform process to handle laptop settings that used to be special for IBM/Lenovo and others.

Just thought I'd share the tip in case someone here didn't know about it either. - I guess that many of you laptop guru knowns, but it was news to me.

The Mobility Center can be started on a laptop with Win+x keys.
