Since I'm playing the waiting game, all I can think about is my new lappy, of course! I've dug through all the reviews I can find, but there are a few questions that I still have...

I see that there are horizontal and vertical scroll areas on the touchpad. I can't tell from the pictures whether they are raised or textured at all. Can you feel them with your finger?

There is an air vent on the bottom of the machine. Does that limit where I can place the lappy without making it overheat (lap/bed/floor okay, or do I need a flat hard surface)?

    the touchpad is smooth, completely.

The bottom is not a vent, its a port to suck up air. The vent is on the left side. Just be cautious like any other laptop and dont use it for prolonged times on the lap or carpet, etc.

Yah, the X&Y lines on the touchpad are not raised. And I think you will be impressed with the feel of the 2 pushbuttons below the touchpad.

I'm glad to hear that the buttons are good...that's something I was concerned about. Of course it's not as nice as a mouse, but anything to make the touchpad less of a pain is good in my book.

Does the inability to feel the scroll areas give you any trouble? Scrolling when you don't want to, or not scrolling when you do?

no, you need to double tap the scroll areas to activate them, so you can pointer drag all over them with no effect

you should never block a vent port, even if it's just intaking air

under high load and hot days blocking a vent port could cause over heat problem because the fan has to work extra hard to draw the same amount of air

i highly recommended that you work on a hard surface, place your laptop on a book or something and it will be fine

i heard dell mouse buttons are really mushy or is that only the inspirion line?

I am not sure what you mean by mushy. But mine is quite sturdy and very responsive

It doesn't have GPRS built in. AFAIK, the only cell-network options are Verizon and Cingular. The antenna is built-in if you get the integrated webcam (not sure why those two are bundled *shrug*), and the card itself is another option.

I think your best bet will be a bluetooth or USB connection from your phone.

the scrollzones dont require any double tapping to activate, dont know why yours needs to do that. You just tap and move your finger down or to the side. Nothing revolutionary as pc laptop touchpads have had this for years.
