I called Dell just for the fun of it and asked them about upgrades to the video card and to the processor. After some hold time they came back to me and said Dell does not support any parts upgrade and that it would void any warranty. I have a m1730 and they could not answer, the type of motherboard, card upgradeable and processor upgradeable.

This is not a confirmation of Dell support as a whole but as you have only spoken to one perso Because if that is the case I can confirm that Dell Support is good, got a SXPS 16 for an upgrade from a Studio 1535 and when i asked about upgrades i was given all the info i need about my chipset and its supported CPU's that i wanted asked about the ability to go Quad core i was told i can get a Q9000,Q9100, or a QX9300 as i already have the fastest core2duo they make T9900

I've had dealings with Dell tech support and I can also confirm it's been good for me as well. :)
