So after reading the posts on this forum, I am a bit weary about purchasing a X1530, mainly due to the grainy screen issue. I DO want the High-Resolution (WSXGA) display, but now I have concerns as I do not want the infamous Samsung display.

Is this a valid concern? Should I purchase the laptop, or choose a different one? About how many of the laptops are affected by this problem?

I do think it is a valid concern... however, given the prices that dell offer i've had to say that i would still go for it and if i get the samsung i would just put all of my effort for a couple of weeks so i can get the LG. There are many who have achieved in getting the LG, so it IS actually possible..

I'm just curious, sorry if this has been answered before, and I'm sure it has but I can't find it, how do you tell which monitor you have? On my 1210 in device manager all it says is "default monitor." I ordered my 1530 and it comes tomorrow, with the following listed: 1 320-6288 15.4 inch Wide Screen WSXGA+ TrueLife for XPS M1530. How can you tell? thanks--

It has many a time but here you go Mike.
Go back into Device Manger (DM) Explore the monitor settings (Generic PnP monitor) right click >Properties > Select Detail Tab up top> Now there should be a section called Property now click on the drop down tab to your right sroll down and select Hardware ID detail should be displayed here..
Or download a freeware called SIW..
