I plan to reformat my 6000 soon, and was wondering if it is safe to delete ALL partitions and create 1 large one.

Are the files that are on any of these partitions necessary?

As long as there is nothing you need for yourself, then format it all and make one big one

The small 3-4gb one that comes with the computer is for restoring your computer to the factory defaults

    Yeah, about that...
Deleting the Dell Image partion is completely your option. As long as you have the backup cd's you can pretty much recover your system in the event of a major software malfunction. However, I would suggest partitioning the harddrive into at least 2 other parts. This not only promotes computer organization, but in the event of a reformat, you can store everything you need in the partion you didn't install windows too. This saves time and also promotes frequent reformats which promotes computer health
