So I'm in the market for a Dell PC - a second-time buyer - and am currently checking out the screens available for the e1505. I've noticed that it says:

15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA Display with TrueLife™

    15.4 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife™

Now, is the 15.4in an actual WXGA, or is it just an XGA?
Secondly, if not, do any of you who have chosen the non-SXGA have a resolution higher than 1024x768?

    Thanks a bunch.

EDIT: I suppose the answer to the first would imply the other, in retrospect.

    wxga is 1280x800
    wsxga+ is 1680x1050

those are the native resolutions for those lcds, repsectively

The main difference is the amount of space you'll have on your desktop to do things such as multitask. If you're a big multitasker, I would seriously consider the WSXGA screen over the WXGA one. You take a hit, however, in how large the text size appears on the screen (the text is larger on a WXGA panel than on a WSXGA one). I would check out your local BestBuy, CircuitCity, Fry's, etc. and compare a WXGA laptop screen with a WSXGA one.

I second checking the screens out at Bestbuy or CircuitCity. But rarely do you see WSXGA+ screens at those places. Check out a Dell Direct kiosk at a mall near you. This way you can see the E1505 in person and it's screen. Usually the E1505 on display at the kiosk bears a WSXGA+ trulife screen (I back this up by the two kiosks in my area both having display models with WSXGA+) I recommend checking it out if you can.
