Hi all, first time poster here.I'm planning to get the e1405 in a few weeks and i have a couple of questions for it.

First question is,since im gonna get it with C2D,what is the sweet spot for
C2D notebooks right now?t5200/5600/7200?(i will be mostly web surfing, music, occasional photoshop, and some old school gaming with starcraft/diablo2.)

My second question is that does the e1405 comes with the OS reinstall cd?i know the xps line comes with them but not sure about inspiron.

Well that's it for now, thanks in advance!

    Welcome to the forums,

Personally, I would go with the 5600 or 7200 - which ever you can afford.

Inspirons don't come with the XP discs. You use to have the option where you can order them with your laptop and pay $10. I'm not sure if that is the case anymore. If it isn't, you can always contact Dell's Tech Support and request the discs. Also, please check out the Format Guide for more helpful hints/suggestions.

My E1505 came with an XP MCE DVD, and so did its replacement (broken VGA out). No option pay $10 for the media existed on the website. This pleases me, as I'm usually reformatting within an hour of opening the box. :)

T7200 seems to be the "sweet" spot, even though there is prolly very little "real world" difference between it and the 1.83GHz part.

To answer, Inspirons now come with the replacement CD -- not sure why this has changed , but it has recently. Mine was $7 option, my wifes just came with it.

LOL, sorry about that then. I guess Dell can't make up their minds about the disc. 2 years ago they stop sending the discs and only had the partition, then they had the option to buy it, and now we have gone back to sending the discs with the laptop
