    Hi all,

Just hoping to get some suggestions regarding the following predicament as I'm not sure what to do myself just yet.

I’ve owned an Inspiron 9400 (dedicated Geforce Go graphics card version) for nearly two years and been very pleased with it. The card went on it last week and, being out of warranty, Dell are charging over £200 to replace the card.

The price for this repair seems expensive, and it has occurred to me that I could use this opportunity to replace the 9400 completely. I tend to use the machine for gaming, so given the fact that the 9400 is a couple of years old I expect I would replace it within the next 12months.

My question is, should I fork out and replace the card now to keep the machine going for another year, or replace at some point over the next few months with a newer machine (going without regular PC use until then).
Also curious to know whether others have had similar experience with Dell out-of-warranty service and whether it represents value for money.

    Thanks!

Well im guessing that you can haggle the price down a bit by saying you can get it done cheaper and faster locally etc.

I can't see any scope to haggle. I'm unable to locate a replacement card, so it feels like I have no alternative other than Dell's out-of-warranty.

Just upgrade to 7900/7950GTX or 2500/3500M while your at it. You can't ask Dell to fix out of warranty system.
