I've been on a tech-support binge with dell the last few weeks, trying to get my 17inch monster's screen to where I can withstand looking at it for extended periods of time.

The original screen was a matte -- great screen after adjusting the colors, if it wasnt for the sprawling light leakage. I had it replaced with another matte screen, which had even more of a light problem. After arguing with tech support I got them to send a WXGA truelife screen. This one STILL seems to have leakage @ the bottom, but as long as I dont have the brightness at full it's not too bad. I hate the gloss factor, but I can live with that.

So for those of you w/ a wxga+ truelife: is this normal? How does your screen look? I've seen many reports of perfect WUXGAs, but next to nothing about how the WXGA+ ones are (I guess mostly because they're relatively new). I can keep fighting tech support, but if the return from here is relatively minimal I may just stick with what I got, which, while not perfect is borderline satisfactory.

Search the threads, dang near every display made has some light leakage including mine. As you found out, my old matte had way more leakage than my exchanged true life. If you can't stand it, try the Sony 17" displays in the box stores for comparison.

My WUXGA has a good amount of light leakage, got it switched, now the screen is just crappy. colors are less vibrant, screen no longer as reflective and the light leakage stayed. To lazy to send this one back too. They are both the samsung model, wonder why so much difference even between the same model.
