I am having a bit of trouble with my new i9400. This is after my format and all that, incase that did something.

When I close the lid and open it again, more than once the screen does not come back on. Moving the mouse or hitting a button does not help. I have found reopening the lid has helped... but what can I do to fix it?

    Thanks

i'm guessing you have it set to go into standby when you close the lid, if you close it and open it again quickly it won't have completely gone into standbye and will be in standbye when it is open. you should just be able to press the power button to take it out of standbye at any time.

How do I check if quickset is set to stand by? In WINDOWS, I have it set to "Do nothing" when the lid is closed.

I dont want it to go into standby, that is not the system. I just want the monitor to shut off when I close it. Maybe thats what you mean by standby? I apologize if I misunderstand you.

If you have it set to DO Nothing you have it set correctly

What about setting quickset? That was mentioned above but I have not "set" anything on it. Is there any other thing that could be a factor?

To get my screen back on I have to completely close the lid and open it again (If after the first opening aftrer its been closed that the image is not on.) Moving the mouse, touchpad, a key, or anyhting does not kick it back on.

I got some problems sometimes too, when the lid is up and the system has been set to standby i have to close the lid and open it to get it working again, moving the mouse or hitting any key doesn't help. But it only happens sometimes, not a big deal though.

check your settings for hibernation, standy, and screensaver. they may be conflicting.

I think it's the 'system suspend' setting that bugs me, you can set it in the power profile management.

The screen is going to turn off no matter what you set it to. This is a stand on laptops that when the screen is closed beyond a certain point, the screen automatically turns off.

Eventhough that happens, the screen should turn back on, so I would check your power settings and make sure that everything is okay.

How do you get your screen back on? Hitting the powerbutton?

To get mine on when it does not come on after I open the lid and it does not, I have to close the lid and reopen it. Not a huge problem I suppose... but having any issues with a 2 day old computer is just rather... anoying. That and the $1750 deduction to my bank account.

I've never seen that happen. I was about to guess that it could be an XP issue, but it almost sounds like your laptop isn't detecting when you are opening the lid.

Do you normally open it up very quickly or slowly?

You know... I never thought about it. I opening normally as far as I would think. I mean I don't think it's a blur or anything when I open it.

Think doing it slowly might help?
