    9300 standby problem

    hi everyone. my friend's 9300 computer has like this weird standby problem. everytime when he puts his computer to standby, it just immediately turns back on and resumes. does anyone have any idea whats going on? i have no idea to help him.

    my guess is that if he hasn't done a reformat, he might have some software that is causing it to resume.

    You might suggest for him to exit as much software as possible including firewalls, virus scanners, etc and see if he has better luck. Might even check task manager to see what all is running.

    Has he updated all of his drivers and windows update?

    If he has a Screen Saver enabled, tell him to turn it off....that might help.

    Also, a lot of hardware components, (especially network cards) have power features called ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface), which can bring a computer out of standby mode.

    He might try to disable this feature of the network card in Device Manager..
