I used I8KfanGUI to control them, and the second one never comes on anymore.
at first I figured the fan was dead, but it just up and died, no bearing noise or anything..

so I just replaced it, and the replacement doesn't come on either.

    WTF?

I8kfangui says the RPMs are 0, and I can see that the fan isn't working.

    help!

First thought would be the possibility of a damaged header pin, since its effecting two fans, (old and new) it could also be a problem with I8K, have you tried uninstalling it? It could be having a conflict with another program such as Ntune. Other than that the only thing I can think of is an obstruction or poor connection. does the new fan have its own wires? Or does it share the same ones as the original? If the latter is true it could simply be a short.
