    Hi everyone,

Trying to set up a speaker that is non-USB. However, I can't seem to find an auido out jack. There are two outletss on the side, one for headphone and the other for microphone.

Is there an audio out jack on the I9300? I have tried connecting to both the headphone and microphone outlets but it doesn't seem to work.

Any assistance would be appreciated thanks.

Sorry, but the 9300 doesn't have an output jack outside of what you have listed. I was going to suggest the headphone jack.

    Yukoner,

Do the speakers have their own power supply that plugs into the wall. I know you can do it that way with the headphone jack, but it is only designed for certain voltages. So if the speakers are not self-powered then the won't work because they won't get enough power from the jack.

did a cd come with it that has drivers for the speakers? I'm with USAF on this. I figured the headphone jack would work, and i've seen a couple of suggestions on using the headphone jack.

Hi, speakers don't have a power supply on their own. Only option I have left is to get USB speakers. Have tried using the headphone jack to no avail. Minor flaw in an otherwise outstanding machine.

The headphone jack will work, but it needs an external power supply. The jack cannot relay enough power to the speakers to make them work. It would be almost the same thing with a desktop. That is why most speakers come with the power supply. The computer then only has to relay the voltage to make the sounds and not to power and speakers and relay the voltage to make the sounds.

it sounds like you're trying to go straight from the headphone port to the speakers. you need to hit a power source along the way.

headphone jack -> power amp (reciever, head unit, anything) -> speakers

    Cad,

He shouldn't have to amp it if he has external power supply for the speakers should he?

powered speakers wouldn't need an amp - but he stated the speakers are not powered.

Well the reason I suggested power speakers is because you can get a set for $20 I don't know how much an amp would be. :)
